SCENE 01 / CGI 3D ANIMATION

CGI & 3D Animation

Cutting-edge computer-generated imagery and 3D animation that brings imagination to life with photorealistic quality.

Scroll

CGI and 3D animation create photorealistic or stylized digital imagery through computer modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering. These techniques produce everything from subtle environmental extensions to fully animated characters and worlds, expanding a production's visual scope beyond the limits of practical filmmaking.

We connect you with CGI and 3D animation studios capable of delivering the quality and volume your project requires. Our team coordinates creative briefings, asset reviews, and technical pipelines to ensure your CG elements match your production's visual standards and integrate seamlessly with live-action plates.

Digic Pictures game cinematics and Pannonia animation heritage through Maya, Houdini, and Toon Boom

Here is how this works in practice. Hungary holds a top-tier CGI bench grounded in two pillars. Digic Pictures Budapest, the studio behind the cinematics for The Witcher 3. Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, League of Legends, Halo. Reach, multiple Assassin's Creed titles, and Final Fantasy chapters, with photoreal character work, motion-capture pipelines, and Maya / Houdini / Arnold rendering at scale. And Pannonia Film Studio, the animation house operating since 1957 with Vuk (1981), the Hungarian Folk Tales series (1977-2012), Cat City.

Here is the short of it. Plus Marcell Jankovics's Son of the White Mare (1981) on its slate (Jankovics held the Order of Merit of Hungary). Alongside these flagships, we set up Cinemon Entertainment Budapest (outsourcing for Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, and Sony Pictures Animation), Studio Baestarts, Umatik Studios, Magma Studios, and the Kecskemét Animation Studios cluster. Talent pipeline runs through SZFE Budapest (Színház- és Filmművészeti Egyetem — University of Theatre and Film Arts, founded 1865) and MOME (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design), Hungary's top animation, design, and visual storytelling schools.

Here is the breakdown. Pipelines run Autodesk Maya as the primary rigging and animation backbone for game cinematics and feature work, SideFX Houdini for FX, simulation. Plus procedural environment generation, Maxon Cinema 4D with Octane or Redshift for commercial motion-and-design briefs. Plus Toon Boom Harmony preserving the Pannonia 2D custom for series and feature animation. Rendering runs Arnold, V-Ray, Redshift, and Octane across local farm and cloud burst capacity. Plus ZBrush and Substance Painter handling sculpt and look-development for hero asset work.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Real-time game-engine pipelines (Unreal Engine 5, Unity) are deployed for previs, virtual production cinematic prototyping, and game cinematics where Digic-grade photoreal characters meet stylised game-world art direction. Linear ACES pipelines are standard for live-action integration, with final delivery to EXR DPX sequences for Filmtörténet, Origo VFX, or Pannonia Post compositing. Supporting clients on feature, series, advertising, brand, and AAA game-cinematic slates routed through Berlin, London, Munich, Vienna, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What 3D software do you use?

We work with industry-standard software including Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Houdini, ZBrush, and Blender. For rendering, we use Arnold, V-Ray, Redshift, and real-time engines like Unreal. We select tools based on project requirements and can integrate with your existing pipeline.

Can you create photorealistic CGI?

Yes, achieving photorealistic results is one of our specialties. We use physically-based rendering, detailed texturing with tools like Substance Painter, accurate lighting simulation, and careful attention to real-world reference to create CGI that's indistinguishable from photography.

Do you handle character animation?

We provide full character animation services including rigging, motion capture cleanup, keyframe animation, and facial animation. Our animators bring characters to life with believable movement and emotional performance, whether stylized or realistic.

What's your typical production timeline?

Timelines vary significantly based on complexity. A simple product visualization might take days, while a complex character or environment could take weeks or months. We'll provide detailed schedules during bidding and maintain clear communication throughout production.

Productions in Hungary that need this often pair it with Rotoscoping & Cleanup Services, Visual Effects Compositing, and Motion Graphics Services for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Audio Mixing & Mastering and Archival & Preservation Services.
